In compliance with the No Surprises Act and Good Faith Estimates, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges before you schedule individual psychotherapy. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. The total cost of your care will be determined by the frequency and length of your sessions.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Private Pay Benefits
No diagnosis or insurance reporting required—your personal mental health information remains completely private.
Supports access for others—private pay helps fund sliding scale options for clients who need reduced fees.
Clients with high-deductible insurance plans often end up paying out of pocket regardless.
